Osteomyology For
Children
A holistic full body realignment therapy.
Osteomyologists use a combination of gentle manipulation and complementary
medicine.
All forms of manipulation are safe when carried out by qualified
professionals, who are trained to spot contra-indications to treatment.
Our experience of our world is through our nerve system, which is housed
inside the spine. Any interference to our nerve system therefore affects
the way we experience our world, which sadly results in a distorted
world-view and a life that is less than optimum. The chance of a child
getting through childhood with their spine and nerve system functioning
optimally is not a good one.
After the ages of 7 - 10, spinal damage that has healed wrong prevents
the child from ever experiencing complete health. The Osteomyology
profession has the awareness, the science and the skills to address
these issues.

Nutrition for
Children
Have you ever wondered if your child is obtaining enough daily
nutrition? You might consider some of these questions:
- Will she/he eat a well enough balanced diet with plenty of
fruit and vegetables to provide the essential vitamins and minerals?
- Does the produce from the supermarket contain all that would
be expected nutritionally?
- How do I know what to supplement if I think there might be a
deficiency?
- Does she/he pick up colds and coughs easily?
- Does she/he seem run down for most of the autumn and winter?
- What can I do to ensure safe and effective supplementation of
nutrition?
Children are notorious for their picky eating. There isn’t and
easy answer to this; We cannot make them eat green vegetables for
example. Most vitamins and minerals come from leafy and root vegetables
and fruit, as well as seeds and grains. These tend to be the very goods
that many young children reject.
Added to this are the concerts of pesticides and herbicides, which leach
their way into the food chain through intensive farming. Sadly even
organic food, although a much better option, cannot guarantee the
potency of nutrition, as the soils are so very depleted and polluted.
These elements gradually create toxicity in the body, forming the basis
for either short or much longer-term ill health.
Here are a few facts derived from surveys and studies:
- Pound for pound, a five-year-old child needs twice as much of
the vitamins B1, B2, B3, A and C and three times as much B6 and B12
as a 25-year-old man.
- Less than 30% of young people eat the recommended number of
servings per day of fruit and vegetables. The minimum is five
servings a day.
- Adequate amounts of key nutrients such as zinc, vitamin B6,
magnesium and calcium are missing from the diet of more than 50% of
children from two to ten years old.
- Extensive surveys have shown those vegetables and fruit in
the supermarkets are substantially lacking in nutritional value. For
example, one survey carried out on oranges bought from various
supermarkets over a sustained period of time showed them to contain
minimal and in most cases NO vitamin C!
- Children need anti-oxidants too as these scavenge free
radicals and strengthen the integrity of the body and mind. Vitamin
E, for example, helps maintain strong cell membranes and, along with
vitamins C and D, is essential for the manufacture of collagen, the
main protein in the body.
- In an attempt to reduce simple sugars, one in 18 children is
now exceeding the safe intake of saccharin. Higher level consumers
are ingesting 6.4mg per kilo of body weight per day, which is much
more than the maximum recommended of 5mg daily acceptable intake.
Saccharins are carcinogenic and most supplements contain these
sweetening agents.
- Many of the commonly used multi-vitamin ranges are not only
deficient in essential nutrients, but can be detrimental to health
as the synergistic balance is often found wanting.
If these issues are a concern for you then we recommend a product
especially formulated for children between one and twelve. Maximol
Solutions Liquid is a pleasantly tasting product that children enjoy
taking. In addition to the extensive vitamin and mineral content, the
formulation is high in anti-oxidants and contains no artificial
sweeteners or sugar. We also have available a similar product design
specifically for teenagers and a comprehensive range of supplements for
adults.

Craniosacral Therapy
In the early years of 1900, William G Sutherland D.O. realised that the
skull bones were moveable to a small degree. Through his research he
realised that restricted and misaligned movement lead to emotional and
physical problems. By the 1930’s, he developed an examination and
treatment protocol for the cranium (skull) and associated related
structures of the body.
Throughout the central nervous system (CNS), which is contained by the
skull, spine, sacrum and coccyx, there is a rhythmic pulsation, normally
around 6 to 12 cycles a minute. Besides these normal rhythmic pulsations
there are other shorter and longer ones, which seem to have lesser
effects. Unfortunately, when the mobility of the cranium (skull) to
sacral system is altered, restricted or disrupted due to injury or
trauma, pain symptoms may appear due to the fact that the normal
pulsations pattern is changed. Symptoms can include back, neck, jaw,
tooth and face pain; tinnitus (ringing in the ear) loss of hearing,
insomnia (trouble with sleeping) Anosmia, Bell’s Palsy, trigeminal
neuralgia (facial nerve pain), other cranial nerve dysfunctions, sinus
troubles, emotional and thought disturbances, and visual disturbances.
These dysfunctions may result in consequent vascular and/or neurological
alterations, later on.
Scar tissue and/or traumatic tissue memory may result due to an injury
to the back, head, and neck. And major somatic and emotional trauma in
addition to shock may add to the problems at hand. The result may
restrict the Craniosacral system ‘s ability to function freely to its
normal rhythm pattern. Injury can occur by a difficult birth, a jaw bite
imbalance, major dental work or chronic bruxing (grinding teeth).
The Craniosacral system can be treated through specific gentle pressure
which is directed at restrictions are diagnosed by motion palpation done
by the specialized therapist. The number of treatments needed depends on
the condition of the patient and how long the patient had the problem.
Fortunately once the system is freed up it tends to remain moveable.
The body normally needs help to remove the obstructions, because it
cannot do it on its own. If is does not receive help the body frequently
adapts to abnormal movement, potentially resulting in biomechanical and
organic complication and or vascular and neurological complications.
Many children have a dysfunctional Craniosacral system. A child born in
pain may learn to adapt, unfortunately a child living with pain, may use
up much of its buffer zone. This could lead to a child having a “short
fuse” due to high anger, low frustration levels, short attention span,
chronic fatigue, insomnia , depression, learning difficulties,
hyperactively, hypo actively (does not want to do anything) and/or any
of the other emotional and/or physical disorders. A child can be
experiencing one or more of these problems when they are brought in for
help, especially after their GP and Medical Consultant have failed to
help them.
Osteomyologists have routinely treated newborns and children, for neck
and back injuries. These therapists can carry their time-tested
treatment principles into Craniosacral function treatment.. They
complement traditional allopathic medicine care for the treatment of
childhood earaches , headaches, head, neck and back pain, digestive
disorders, behavioural problems, asthma related symptoms, seasonal
allergies and immune system disorders.
This type of treatment is natural complementary technique that can
expand the Osteomyologist abilities to help his patients especially
children. It is based on time proven functional anatomy. We all know is
that there are many joined bones in the skull that are slightly
moveable. After practising for a while one will be able to feel these
pulsations differences from one side of the skull to the other and than
wait until they are equal. Sometimes you might even feel a slight
movement of the skull especially on a newborn child.
This technique is also a great emotional releaser. Some patients become
very emotional during or after the treatment. Some of my patients have
stated that they cried when they returned home following the treatment
and felt great after that. After the crying spell some patients will now
recall why they are having problems resulting in a great breakthrough in
their treatment. I had one middle age lady who actually forgot she had
broken her neck ( this may be hard to believe but it is true) when she
was a little girl and now understands why she has problems now.

Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a treatment that uses basic muscle testing
for evaluating areas of dysfunction within the body. AK uses the
principle that the body is a self-maintaining, self-correcting
mechanism.
In the treatment, the strength of various muscles is evaluated, and any
weaknesses are traced back to their structural, chemical or mental
cause.
When a person has ill health, at least one of these factors is involved
and often two. The principle of AK is to analyse and check all three
factors and treat any which are disrupted. An example of this is a
person suffering with long-term intestinal irritation. Nutritional
balance within the body will be severely disrupted due to mal-absorption
problems. Low back pain will be evident due to the dual nerve supply to
the lower back and the intestines. There will also be stress related
elements that further exacerbate the symptoms. It is imperative in the
treatment of this person that all three aspects are analysed and
balanced in order to to restore the 'triad of health', and to restore
the person to complete fitness.
Dr H. Goodheart Jr. D.C. introduced the use of manual muscle testing to
evaluate body function in 1964. Since then, research into and knowledge
of AK has expanded considerably, providing many additional dimensions to
the diagnosis of bodily dysfunction.
Even in the early days of AK, it was apparent how the many basic
treatment method in Osteomyology, Manipulative Therapy, Homeopathy,
Nutrition and Herbal Medicine produced immediate improved muscular
function, which could be directly measured using manual muscle testing.

Children's Disorders
Treatments for ADHD, ADA, Autism, and Dyslexia.
Treating children with disorders such as Learning Disabilities, ADHD,
ADA, Behavioural Problems, and Autism, the following may help correct or
prevent biochemical imbalances that cause such problems.
- Use natural, mostly organic foods with as few pesticides or
herbicides as possible.
- Totally remove as much as possible any food dyes,
preservatives, sugar and additives from the diet.
- Do not use pesticides inside the house as well as outside the
house where the child goes.
- Try to determine any food or drink allergies that the child
my have. Start by removing gluten and dairy products for 3 months
then reintroduce slowing and see if it has an affect on the child.
- Mum should avoid taking alcohol, nicotine, medications,
recreational drugs, or any other drugs while pregnant which may harm
the unborn child.
- The mum should breast feed. The first few years of the
child’s life is critical to psychological and physical development.
Mum diet is also important at this time.
- Mum should find ways to relax and remove stress from her self
during the pregnancy, because it can too affect the unborn child.
Questions to ask parents if the child has learning disorders,
behaviour problems, Dyslexic and/or Autistic.
- Is the child bored?
- Is the child too active?
- Is the child Dyslexic or has a different learning pattern?
- Does the child any supplements or any drugs?
- Does the child have any behavioural problems?
- Are there any problems at home?
- Is the child suffering from any frustrations from a teacher’s
teaching style?
- Does the child have any tics, tremors, balance or postural
problems?
- Does the child suffer from unusual sensitivity to movement,
sights, sounds, or touch?
- Does the child wear eyeglasses or suppose to? (Wearing
glasses that are tinted yellow or problem has helped some children).
- Does the child do any exercises for their condition? (If for
example the child suffers from planning skills, organization skills
and motor coordination skills they will probably benefit from
performing spinning and balancing exercises or learn to clap or tap
to the metronome.
- Does the child suffer from musculoskeletal problems? (Any
musculoskeletal problems will affect imbalances in the development
of the brain causing one hemisphere to develop faster than the
other.
